Library Services

Welcome to the Shaw Butte Library

The purpose of our library is to support our students' education as lifelong learners and readers by putting resources in the hands of students and the school community, encouraging students to read, teaching students the skills necessary to evaluate information, and encouraging student responsibility.

Guidelines and Expectations

All students are required to have their ID's in order to check out. All students are expected to be responsible for the care and condition of the library books they choose.

Preschool, head start, kindergarten and first grade students may check out one book. Second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students may check out two books.

Checkout periods are for one six-day cycle. All books are expected to be returned to our library after each six-day cycle. If students would like to renew their library book, they may bring their book to the library for another 6-day renewal period.

Staff members have unlimited access to books and materials available in our library. Parents may stop in with their child and check out books for home reading.
